What is Mediation?

Mediation is a form of dispute resolution that involves a neutral third party who helps parties negotiate and reach resolution. Mediation is a voluntary and confidential process. A mediator helps facilitate open communication for parties to explore interests and identify common ground.

During mediation, the mediator helps parties focus on their needs and generating options for resolution. The goal of mediation is to achieve a mutually agreeable resolution. Mediation can be used to resolve a wide range of disputes, including those related to divorce, custody, employment, business dealings, personal injury, and other disputed matters.
